BIOQUANT Research Center

BIOQUANT is a recently established interdisciplinary center for the “Quantitative Analysis of Molecular and Cellular Biological Systems (BIOQUANT) at the University of Heidelberg. It integrates research groups from different disciplines like physics, molecular biology, computer science and the medical sciences. Its goal is to face the challenge of analyzing quantitatively biological processes resulting from interactions of molecular and cellular ensembles. This will facilitate improved diagnoses of and therapy for diseases. BIOQUANT is supported by various first class research foundations and institutions like the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the State of Baden-Württemberg, Klaus Tschira Stiftung, Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, German Cancer Research Center, Helmholtzgesellschaft, and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).

About Heidelberg

The city of the oldest university in Germany (established in 1386) looks back on over 800 years of history. With its beautiful natural setting, the harmonious ensemble consisting of castle, old town and river set in the midst of hills, Heidelberg is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. It has not only a lively student scene but also acts as a source of inspiration to the forefronts of modern research.
